Sophie’s World Ch.1

In the Chapter, Sophie gets clustered with problems all at once. She gets a postcard addressed to her, with no returning address, from an unknown person.” She tried to get her thoughts in order: This afternoon, in the space of two short hours, she had been presented with three problems.” A human being is a living individual with the aspects of a human for example: feelings and emotions. If I had a different name, I would be a different person. My name is something that will follow me forever and it has some meaning to me. I believe that there is life after death. Life never ends. People are reborn.

Yes, once you realize what it’s like to die. You’ll cherish life and the joy it brings. The world is created by the people who live in it. Because of us, the world is what it has become over the years. I think it does matter where the world comes from because each time the world evolves it gets better and better. There are certain things that have always existed but most things have evolved overtime. But, most things have a beginning and an end. Everything changes.

What is Identity?

I believe self is referred to “one self”. Meaning to find you. Your self is located within you and others. To find yourself means to look for whom you are inside. To look for what you’re going to do in your lifetime. I think it is possible finding yourself on your own. Only you can know when you’re done looking. Time can change your identity. You can’t expect to wake up 15 years from now and be able to do what you could do back then. Times change even if we don’t want them to. I think my identity is based off both my mind and appearance because they work together. I act and dress the way I feel that day which is what i is thinking about. Any little thing that changes makes your completely different. If you get a new haircut, you can feel better or worse, which will affect your mood and your actions.

Yes, my identity is like a story. Its based off past and present experiences and awaiting the unexpected. Everyday, people are judged and defined. But, it’s up to that person if they are going to let people mark them or if they will mark themselves. I think that you can define your identity by culture, beliefs, values, morals, appearance. And actions. I don’t think I’ll ever know exactly who I am but, I will always be very close to who I want to be. I agree with Michel de Montaigne. He believes that each day we wake up, will be totally different. Yesterday we were one person and today we are another.

My name is Cristina Lopez. I was born in San Diego, Ca. My childhood was very tormenting. Everyday was a struggle. I grew up looking up to people who ended up being screw ups. As a kid I always thought positive and never looked back on what happened the day before. I wanted to believe that life was an adventure and that in the end I’ll find the forbidden treasure. My whole life I’ve lived in San Diego and I don’t have any plans of moving. I have attended Rosa Parks Elementary, Wilson Middle School and now I am currently attending Hoover High School. There were many challenges I faced in school because I wasn’t always able to attend all the school functions due to lack of family support and being in a low income family, there wasn’t any extra money to spend on school functions, pictures and all that good stuff. In elementary school, I had a teacher who would guide to where I needed to go. Until now she has not steered me wrong. She has been like a second mother to me.

One major problem I had growing up was not having my mom around as much as I wanted her to. My mom had a drinking problem and was looking for help in all the wrong places. When she got the necessary help, they took me away from her and was only allowed two visits a month for almost 2 years until she was released. After that it was just programs, after programs. I’m proud of her now though. It was worth it. My passion is dancing. I love to dance. It makes me feel happy inside and helps forget about the negative things in life. I also belong to AOIT and ROTC. One of my major accomplishments in high school has been that I haven’t given up. I keep trying harder and harder every day. I don’t have a specific favorite activity but I love showing off my school spirit. Ive always liked to help people. I think that helping others makes me a better person.

I wish to graduate with my class and be all that I can be after high school.

I want to attend San Diego State University. I want to be a Designer. I’m not sure what kind of Designer yet but, only time will tell.
